Horse Animation - Run Test - Mixing and Editing.


Mixing and Editing.

All edited sound effects were aligned against the markers placed in pro tools to accurately place each effect in time with the video/animation. Slight effects such as EQ and  Reverb were utilised to give the animation a more realistic tonality.

Horse Animation - Sound Effects Editing

Sound Effect Editing.

All sounds recorded were placed into a pro tools session for editing. The many sounds captured for the armor effects were layered in order to provide a more deep tonality to the effect making it more convincing with a similar characteristic to real  steel plate armor.

The Hoof sounds were Multiplied to provide a more deeper impact and EQ was subtly applied to produce slightly more bass from the thud of the hoof hitting the ground.

Hoof Scrapes were randomly picked from a selection of coconut scrapes which were also slightly edited using EQ to provide a more natural sound effect.

Horse Animation - Sound Effect Recording.


Sound Effect Recording. 
Task Objectives:-
  • Record Hoof Hits and Scrapes for use in the Horse Animation Walk Test Video.
  • Record Armour Sounds for use in the animation.
These sounds will be utilised across all three horse animation videos. 


Materials used for recording:-
  • Coconut Shell (Cut in half) 
  • Plastic Tumbler
  • Metal Chain
  •  Car Keys
  • Microphone box clips
  • Metal sheets
All sounds were capture using an SE electronics SE1a microphone. 

The audio was recorded and chopped into sections to allow for a more easy editing experience.
